Georgena is a feminine form derived from the Greek name George, itself originating from the Greek word "georgos" (γεωργός), composed of two elements: "geo" (γῆ), meaning "earth," and "ergon" (ἔργον), meaning "work" or "to work." The literal meaning is therefore "worker of the earth" or "farmer." The masculine form George became widely used across Europe through Christian tradition and evolved into numerous feminine variants in different languages. The English feminine suffix "-ena" was added to create Georgena, following the Victorian convention of feminizing masculine names through the addition of vowel suffixes. This transformation occurred within English-speaking contexts during the 19th century.
