Christinna is a modern respelling and feminization of the name Christina, which derives from the Latin *Christianus*, meaning "follower of Christ" or "Christian." The root *Christus* itself comes from Greek *Khristos* (Χριστός), the title applied to Jesus meaning "the anointed one" (from the verb *khriein*, "to anoint"). Christina emerged as a feminine form during the medieval period across European languages, becoming standard in English, German, Scandinavian, and Romance languages. Christinna appears to be a late 20th-century American variant, created by adding an extra *n* to Christina—a spelling innovation typical of the 1970s–1990s era when parents frequently modified traditional names through altered consonant clusters or vowel patterns.
