Alicya is a modern variant spelling of Alice, created through the addition of the letter "y" and alteration of the standard English pronunciation. Alice derives from the Old Germanic name Adalheidis, composed of the elements "adal" (noble) and "heid" (kind, sort, or condition). The name traveled through Old French as Aalis before establishing itself in English as Alice during the medieval period.
